"Our Town" Stage Play Seeking Actors

About the project: Synopsis: Our Town, by Thornton Wilder, is a three-act play that explores the ordinary lives of the residents of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, in the 20th century. The play follows the Gibbs and Webb families, focusing on the relationship between their children, George and Emily, as they grow up, fall in love, marry, and experience loss. Through their story and the everyday experiences of the townspeople, the play examines themes of love, community, the passage of time, and the importance of appreciating life’s simple moments. Additional info: Auditions will consist of reading a scene. Audition sides are attached– please choose one role you’d like to read for auditions. If you’re unable to attend auditions, you may submit your audition online. PLEASE NOTE: directors are looking to see what auditionees will bring to the character. Please choose a character you’re interested in and prepare a side (see attachment). There are many more roles than what they’re reading for – this is an ensemble piece that we will build together. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, September 17th for any actors directors ask to read again. A gossipy woman who sings in the choir along with Mrs. Webb and Mrs. Gibbs.
The choirmaster, whose alcoholism and undisclosed “troubles” have been the subject of gossip in Grover’s Corners for quite some time.
