Acting Audition for "Rule Book" Film
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking cast to play roles in "Rule Book" film. More details are below. About the project: Three friends, after their first year of university apart, reunite for a nostalgic board game night. Kevin’s longing for the “good old days” pushes him to convince his friends to learn a new game: Lucifer’s Law. At first, it seems like just another overly complicated board game with endless rules—but as the night goes on, the convoluted mechanics give way to a far more sinister truth: the game is actually designed to sacrifice one of the players to the dark prince himself. This dark, absurdist comedy blends physical humor with elements of horror, as Kevin’s friends Sasha and Quinn try to pull him back from the brink of madness. Rate: Non-Union. Volunteer Project, Food on Day, Copy of Film. Additional information: Shoot/Performance Date(s) 20th, 21st September. Shoot/Performance Location(s) North Van. The ringleader of the night. Kevin is nostalgic, obsessive, and earnest to a fault. His deep love for board games—and his desire to recapture the “good old days” with his friends—blinds him to how unhinged he sounds. Starts off as the enthusiastic nerd of the group, but gradually slides into full-blown cultish mania. Needs strong comedic timing, the ability to deliver exposition with manic conviction, and a willingness to lean into physical comedy as the game night spirals out of control.
The skeptic and voice of reason. Sasha is sharp, sarcastic, and protective of the group’s sanity. While Kevin obsesses and Quinn drifts, Sasha grounds the scene with biting humor and exasperated reactions. Quick wit and dry comedic delivery are key. Must balance sarcastic banter with emotional beats, as Sasha is ultimately the one who challenges Kevin when things go too far.
The lovable goofball. Quinn is carefree, impulsive, and always a little behind the conversation. He’s easily distracted, doesn’t always understand what’s happening, but throws himself wholeheartedly into whatever Kevin suggests—whether that’s sorting game pieces or climbing shirtless onto the ritual table. Needs strong physical comedy instincts, a playful presence, and the ability to make the audience laugh and sympathize with his oblivious loyalty.
