About the project: Father Declan, an experienced priest, bursts into a church to find a young altar boy standing in front of the dead body of a priest who just tried to molest him. In a bold, instinctive choice, Father Declan, a man of God and a firm believer, decides to step into the wrong side of the law for what he believes is right, risking himself to help the young boy to dispose of the dead body, even though that means he’s going to have to use extreme methods to do so. Eventually, after successfully getting away with it, he walks into a motel room to find the body of the young altar boy hanging from a rope, reflecting on the devastating cost of silence, faith, and moral compromise. Father Declan is a seasoned priest with nearly three decades of guiding troubled souls. Once a steadfast believer in the Church’s authority, his years of experience have led him to see its deep flaws and corruption. Though disillusioned with the institution, he still clings to the belief that individuals can choose good. His bond with Maurice is almost paternal—seeing in the boy both a victim of the system he once served and a chance to finally set something right.
