About the project: The Taming of the Shrew is a Shakespearean comedy about the forceful marriage of the ill-tempered Katherine, a "shrew," to the brash Petruchio, who employs various manipulative tactics to compel her obedience. The central plot, presented as a play within a play, involves the suitors of Katherine's gentler sister, Bianca, encouraging Petruchio to wed Katherine so that Bianca may also marry. The play is notable for its examination of gender roles and societal expectations regarding marriage and has been adapted into films like the 1967 version starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton and the 1999 teen film 10 Things I Hate About You. Additional info: AUDITIONS will consist of cold reading monologues and scenes from the script! Performances will be January 17th with a matinee and evening performance. January 18th a matinee.
