Seeking Cast for Upcoming Play "Fools"

"Fools" play casting actors. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: Fools is a comic fable by Neil Simon, set in the small village of Kulyenchikov, Ukraine, during the late 19th century. The story follows Leon Steponovich Tolchinsky, a school teacher who takes a new job educating Sophia, the daughter of Dr. Zubritsky and his wife, Lenya. Leon soon learns that there is a curse on the village that makes everyone stupid, but complications ensue when Leon falls in love with his pupil. It turns out that if Leon stays in the village too long, he too will be cursed with stupidity… unless he can find a way to break the town out of their “curse!” Additional info: The audition will consist of readings from the script. Be prepared to bring all your BIG CHOICES and to HAVE FUN. NOTE: feel free to experiment with accents during the auditions, but it is not at all necessary, as they may or may not be used in the production. Ages: This is a family-friendly play, but there are no children in it. All characters’ playable ages are based on character description. (Sophia’s parents must look older than her, the magistrate is probably not a teenager, etc.) Intimacy details TBD, no later than 1 week prior to auditions. Rehearsals will begin the week of September 14. They will have 3 rehearsals a week until Tech Week, which will rehearse every day from Sunday through Opening Night. Days of the week will be determined by cast availability, and will run from 6-9 pm. Actors may not be required at every rehearsal, especially in the early part of the process, and directors will work with each actor’s availability; but all rehearsals in Tech Week are required.
