Singing Audition for "The Last Five Years" Play

About the play: "The Last Five Years", winner of the Drama Desk Award, is a contemporary song-cycle musical by Jason Robert Brown. It chronicles the five-year arc of a marriage from two perspectives: Cathy’s story is told in reverse chronological order, starting at the end of the relationship, while Jamie’s is told chronologically, beginning with their first meeting. The characters only directly interact during a wedding song at the midpoint. This deeply personal narrative explores the complexities of love, ambition, and heartbreak. Additional information: Rehearsals begin September 29th at 7:00 PM. Rehearsals will be held 2-3 days weekly until tech week which begins on November 2nd. PERFORMANCE DATES: November 6, 7, 8 & 13, 14, 15, all shows at 8:00 PM. Prepare 32 bars of a song either from The Last Five Years or a piece with a similar style. If performing a song from the show, please use the original score in its original key. Sheet music is preferred, as an accompanist will be provided. Backing tracks are allowed but we encourage auditions with live accompaniment. During auditions, you will also be asked to sing selections from the show, both solos and duets, with the accompanist.
