Horror Audio Drama Pilot Seeking Principal and Supporting Cast

New York, NY, United States
ID: 292146Exp: 8/31/2025
online audition
Description:

Independent creators casting five leads and several supporting characters for an upcoming horror audio drama. This is the pilot for what we hope will be a full-length series which follows a group of young adult friends as they explore the strange happenings and bizarre terrors that color the corners of their quiet hometown. The pilot will be self-funded, with the aim of exciting listeners and producers who we can later bring on to support production on this immersive story we’ve developed. Seeking diverse voice actors who can deliver grounded and emotionally honest performances (unless noted otherwise). The show is set in the United States during the early 21st century, and these roles will require mostly American accents. Several of the roles are bilingual and will require delivering lines in both English and Spanish. $20 per half-hour–-these will be directed sessions. We do not require you to rent a studio, but a good quality USB mic and reliable recording space will be expected.

12 roles

Erika (she/her)Female18-30 y.o.African-American Other

Age: early-mid 20s Principal character Erika is well put together with a bit of a hipster/cool girl edge. She moved from a small town to live life in the pressure cooker of New York City’s hustle culture. A “soft butch” queer woman of black and Japanese descent, she’s tough but not aggressive or antagonistic. She is the focus of this first episode, though focus is shared between the principal characters in later episodes.

Nate (he/they)Both genders18-30 y.o.White / Caucasian Other Asian Middle Eastern Native American Pacific Islander Indian/South Asian

Age: early-mid 20s Principal character An initial read of Nate via their online persona would have you believe they’re a basement dwelling know-it-all tech savant. In truth, they are lean and athletically built, and a bit of a fitness and health nut—an aspiring biohacker in their own words. He’s probably nothing like you’d picture a hacker and internet troll to look like. He is very much a former suburban rich kid. Needs to have a bit of sass and condescension in their voice.

Juan (he/him)Male18-30 y.o.Latino / Hispanic

Age: early-mid 20s Principal character Juan is a Mexican-American Army vet with a thick stocky build—like a high school athlete who let himself go a bit, but could still knock you out if he needed to. His arms are moderately tattooed, with the most notable one being a US Army tattoo. Strong and masculine but not macho. Bilingual Spanish/English speaker preferred.

Crystal (she/her)Female18-30 y.o.White / Caucasian Other

Age: mid 20s Principal character There’s an almost ethereal quaintness to her when compared to Erika, a veneer of naïveté and a distaste for confrontation. That said, she is no pushover and will stand her ground when necessary. She’s driven by curiosity—she is our Alice in Wonderland—but she’s haunted by a past that she knows she’ll have to confront sooner or later.

Interviewer (she/her)Female30-56 y.o.White / Caucasian Other Asian Middle Eastern Pacific Islander Indian/South Asian

Age: n/a Principal character The Interviewer is an enigmatic character who serves as a neutral driving force in the narrative. Their delivery should be impartial and analytical, but not robotic. Their ethnic background is undetermined, so we’re open to hearing from a variety of voices, but would love to hear some non-American talent (British and SWANA heritage especially).

Pamela (she/her)Female18-30 y.o.Latino / Hispanic White / Caucasian Other

Age: early-mid 20s Recurring character Pamela is a complex character who will be required to code-switch between sounds like an all-American sweetheart to cursing out others in fluent Spanish. She is sweet but not saccarine; graceful and kind, but she carries with her a heavy darkness that sometimes overwhelms her, and eventually, may overwhelm her friends. Bilingual Spanish/English speaker preferred.

Leslie (she/her)Female18-30 y.o.White / Caucasian Other Native American

Age: early-mid 20s Supporting character A former teenage bad girl stuck in a dead-end town. Uses sarcasm and partying to cope with the monotony of suburban life. She has a temper which has gotten her in trouble in the past and will probably continue to do so well into her future. Still, she is wholly devoted to her friends. Would love to find a femme VA with a slightly smoky/hoarse quality to their voice (think Taryn Manning or Margot Kidder).

Karl (he/him)Male18-30 y.o.All ethnicities

Age: early 20s Supporting character Charismatic but immature, Karl is something of a heartthrob in our story. Dripping with suburban swagger, but he has a heart and feels just as others do—his need to maintain his party-boy reputation sometimes gets in the way of making deeper connections.

Kenny (he/him)Male18-30 y.o.All ethnicities

Age: early 20s Supporting character A friend of Karl’s who splits his time between delivering pizzas, playing video games, and getting stoned with his friends. Karl is a burnout with little ambition to speak of, and tries not to think too hard about what happiness would mean for him.

Nina (she/her)Female18-30 y.o.Latino / Hispanic

Age: late teens-early 20s Supporting character Kenny’s ride-or-die—together they serve as our Cheech and Chong. She is perpetually stoned and often serves as comic relief, but she is also not afraid to harsh her buzz if someone annoys her. Where Kenny is soft spoken and a bit of a pushover, Nina is there to protect him and anyone else who needs it. Bilingual Spanish/English speaker preferred.

Jane (she/her)Female18-30 y.o.African-American White / Caucasian Other Asian Middle Eastern Native American Pacific Islander Indian/South Asian

Age: early-mid 20s Supporting character Jane is one of the more reserved members of the group—a mall goth who has outgrown the mall and is still adjusting to the responsibilities of post-teenage life. A little dry, but not stand-offish.

Gas Station Customer (she/her)Female40-56 y.o.White / Caucasian

Age: 40+ Walk-on, possibly recurring character Neurotic and demanding, this customer is the epitome of a whiny small-town Karen, but has a layer of uncanniness to her—think Nadine from Twin Peaks and her obsession with drape runners.
