About the project: Experience the magic of the season with A Christmas Carol: The Musical, a joyous and heartfelt retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic tale. With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Mike Ockrent, this Broadway-style adaptation follows the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge as he takes a life-changing journey through Christmases past, present, and future. Brimming with lively songs, dazzling moments, and a timeless message of hope and redemption, this festive musical is the perfect holiday treat for the whole family. Additional info: Callbacks: Sunday, September 28 | 1 – 5 PM. REHEARSAL & PRODUCTION SCHEDULE: Rehearsals for A Christmas Carol will begin on Monday, October 20th, at The Nebraska Communities Playhouse. Rehearsals will generally take place on weeknights between 6:00–10:00 PM. Performances will be December 12-14 & 19-21. (Fridays at 7:30, Saturdays at 2:00 & 7:30, Sundays at 2:00) You may not be called for every rehearsal, but unless you’ve submitted a conflict in advance, you are expected to be available during these times. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be shared once the show is cast and we’ve reviewed the cast’s availability. The directors will do their best to accommodate known conflicts shared at the time of the audition. Please note: Starting Monday, December 1st, they ask that cast members have no conflicts. These final days will include full run-throughs and technical rehearsals, and full cast participation is essential. Strike (the breakdown and cleanup of the set, costumes, props, and technical equipment) will take place immediately after the closing show, and all cast members are required to stay and participate. Playful, wistful, and wise. This spirit gently guides Scrooge through key memories, encouraging reflection and insight. Has a lightness of energy and voice. Vocal Range: A3 to G5
A haunting, silent apparition of a grim future that could be. Often portrayed as elegant and ominous, this ghost conveys power without words. Dance experience required (Jazz, Lyrical, Ballet). Vocal Range: A3 to G5 (singing minimal)
A kind, patient father and hardworking clerk, Mr. Cratchit remains optimistic despite financial hardship and Scrooge’s mistreatment. His love for his family—especially his son Tiny Tim—is the heart of his resilience. Vocal Range: A3 to E5
Warm, protective, and practical, Mrs. Cratchit anchors her household with dignity and strength. She strives to bring joy to her family even when resources are scarce. Vocal Range: A3 to E5
Scrooge’s late business partner, now a tortured ghost weighed down by chains of his own making. Marley is intense, dramatic, and serves as Scrooge’s first warning. Vocal Range: A3 to A5
Scrooge’s cheerful, idealistic nephew. Fred embraces the true spirit of Christmas and refuses to give up on his uncle, believing joy is something to be shared. Vocal Range: A3 to F5
