About the project: A young Jewish woman, Chaya, is studying for the MCAT and preparing for an arranged marriage when her neighbor, Marshall, makes a hole in the wall between their apartments. As Chaya and Marshall form a deepening bond, she discovers that he and his roommate are involved in a hate crime against Jews. Torn between her growing feelings for Marshall and his complicity in antisemitism, Chaya must navigate the complexities of love, identity, and tolerance in this romantic drama Rate: Actors will be paid a stipend, see above. Actors able to sing (and learn short Hebrew songs) are encouraged to submit. Actor will receive $500 stipend.
Owns a barber shop and shares an apartment with his friend Gray. Discovers he has testicular cancer and smashes a hole in the wall out of anger. Actor will receive $500 stipend.
Lives in the apartment with Chaya, who she is great friends with. Not as observant in her Judaism but plans a rally to combat antisemitism in the wake of a recent shooting. Actor will receive $400 stipend.
Lives in the other apartment with Marshall and works in a restaurant as a dishwasher. Holds deeply antisemitic beliefs and was recently involved in the attack of a Jewish man. Actor will receive $400 stipend.
Chaya’s deceased father, who returns to guide her through difficult moments. Was murdered in an antisemitic attack, even after battling Leukemia. Mostly non-speaking role. Actor will receive $300 stipend.
