Casting Talent for "Island Song" Show
The company is holding auditions for "Island Song", please see the details below. About the project: The energy and passions of New York City explode with a percussive, soaring pop score in Island Song. An ambitious set of 20- and 30-somethings navigates the promises and perils of big city life; as the city spins around them and their peers, they get lost, fight back, fall in love, face setbacks, and, most importantly, come alive with the strength that comes with conquering the Big Apple. Island Song is formatted like a song cycle, where each character sings solo song(s) to tell their story. There are vignette scenes that take place, but this is very singer-forward. Additional info: Production Dates: November 7-9, 14-15, 2025 Please come prepared with a 32-bar cut of a musical theatre song or a pop song with a strong storyline. Looking for dynamic storytellers who sing well. Sheet music is preferred but backing tracks are allowed. Please do not plan to sing a Capella. There will be a brief movement exercise at 7 pm, and then you'll sing for selection after that. Directors will also want to collect any evening conflicts between September 2 and November 16, so please bring your calendars and schedules.
12 roles
A free-spirited woman low on ambition in the traditional sense, she's on a journey of self-exploration, eager to take it all in--which looks a lot like aimlessness amid the bustle of the city. Smart, well-read, her style is almost-alternative, boasting the requisite accouterments, without being fully committed.
An aspiring actor in his early-20s. Earnest and driven, he's left his small Midwestern town to pursue his acting dream. A bit of a loner, unpolished, but a true romantic. (Cooper could read straight or gay, but either way, his sexual identity is not central to his conflict.)
An ambitious, sexy lawyer. She works hard and plays hard. Deeply engrossed in a dysfunctional love affair with the city.
Fresh out of a creative writing program, she's now stuck in a temp job. A well-read firecracker, she's trying to balance the need to make ends meet with the search for inspiration.
A woman in her “Late-early” 30s. Independently financially secure, she is driven by a need to fill the empty space of life and a deep desire to connect, but she can't seem to get out of her own way. A real Carol Burnett type. Lonely. A New York native and amateur singer. She speaks quickly.
An aspiring actress--working as a waitress--in her mid-20s. Outgoing, always up for a good time, easy to convince to "stay for one more drink," she's also trying to stay focused on her ultimate goals and not get seduced by the money and attention she gets in the service industry. This role may be played by a male.
Midwestern, sweet and less-than-slick. Taking the city on a test drive but a suburbanite at heart.
A Hipster living in Williamsburg. Ironic, kitchy, and aggressively apathetic.

MORGAN's fellow defeated office workers, played by the performers playing STOSH, TIMO, WALLENDIA, and TAYLOR. They should in no way resemble our primary characters.
A street performer who uses found percussion objects. He does not speak, though others speak to him. He represents the heartbeat of the city.
