Talent Needed for Production of "A Christmas Carol"

An underpaid clerk working for Scrooge, Bob Cratchit represents the suffering and poor working conditions of the lower classes. Despite the cruel treatment he endures at work for little pay, Bob does his job without complaint. He is a dedicated and humble worker, a loving father and husband and a kind man.

The compassionate and soft-spoken Ghost who revisits Scrooge’s memory. The ghost appears to be both childlike and aged, suggesting that memory serves as a bridge between different points in Scrooge’s life; examining his memories enables Scrooge to learn about his past, to understand things about himself he might not have otherwise. Despite Scrooge’s rejection of the past, the ghost’s visit marks the beginning of his transformation.

A jovial manifestation of everyone’s Christmas celebrations. His power grows with the festivities shown to Scrooge. He appears to Scrooge as a majestic giant with a booming voice. He shows Scrooge what is occurring, in the present, in the lives of those he knows and how they are affected by Scrooge’s behaviors.

A silent and mysterious ghost as unknowable as the future itself. He answers no questions, opting instead to communicate nonverbally with visually fear-inducing physical movements.

Fred embodies the Christmas spirit with his generosity and kindness while offering best wishes and kind words to Scrooge even though Scrooge sneers at them and refuses Fred’s yearly invitation to celebrate the festivities. Unknown to Fred, he regrettably reminds Scrooge of the fact that his sister Fan, whom he loved, died giving birth to him.

They symbolize the Christmas spirit and are collecting money to help the poor. They try to encourage the moral obligation of the wealthy to help the less fortunate. They represent a charitable approach that directly opposes Scrooge's initial cynicism and belief that the poor should be left to the mercy of prisons and workhouses.

Mr. Fezziwig, the merchant that Scrooge apprenticed for when he was a young man, is kind, jovial, and generous. He teaches Scrooge about kindness, fairness & compassion in the workplace. Mrs. Fezziwig is his wildly festive and flamboyant wife who loves a good party and induces merriment.

When she left Scrooge due to his overwhelming interest in money and experiencing the sad reality that although she still loved him, she felt his feelings of love were no longer shared.

Fan was Scrooge's younger sister and Fred's mother, who died when she was a young woman giving birth to Fred. During his journey with the Ghost of Christmas Past, Scrooge is forced to confront his memories of his beloved sister. A true embodiment of youthfulness and kindness, Fan always treated Scrooge with warmth and love.

Bob Cratchit's wife and the mother of Martha, Peter, Belinda and Tiny Tim. She is a loving and devoted mother who works hard to make the best of their modest circumstances.

The eldest son and a key member of the Cratchit family. He wants very much to gain employment and prove his “manhood” by contributing to the family income. While facing financial hardship, Peter also displays aspirations for a better future and a strong sense of family devotion, despite the challenges.

A kind, helpful, and family-oriented young girl. She is known to assist her mother in the kitchen and with household tasks. Despite the Cratchit family's poverty, Belinda embodies a cheerful and positive spirit, reflecting the family's close-knit nature and love for one another.

The eldest daughter of the Cratchit family. She is characterized by her kindness, hard work, and devotion to her family. She works in a milliner's shop, likely facing long hours and difficult conditions, yet her late arrival home for Christmas dinner is a joyous occasion for the family. Her joy at seeing her family and her affection for Tiny Tim highlights her caring nature.

The youngest Cratchit who maintains a positive attitude and commitment to optimism and hope despite his dwindling health. It’s made clear that Tiny Tim is suffering because of Scrooge’s greed, illustrating a clear link between the dismissive cruelty of the upper classes embodied by Scrooge and the pitiable state of the poor, as exemplified by Tiny Tim.

The wife of Scrooge’s nephew Fred. A cheerful, kind, considerate, and warm. She and Fred are clearly in love and enjoy hosting their annual Christmas party. She is described as "exceedingly pretty" and is shown to be jolly and warm-hearted.

A good-humored and wildly flamboyant young man who constantly is only interested in pursuing woman. His lively personality and uninhibited feelings for the woman make him a funny and flashy character.

The female version of Topper. She is very funny, flirtatious and colorful. She is subtle but direct in expressing her desires. She is extremely interested in Topper’s quest to find a woman who is as wild and adventurous as he is.

They are seen trying to sell/buy Scrooge’s belongings during his time with the Ghost of Christmas Future. They have ruthlessly and unmercifully taken several of his belongings following his death...including his bed curtains “with him just lying there.”
