"The Pumpkin Kid" Musical Casting Actors

About the project: Auditions for a new family musical, The Pumpkin Kid, based on the beloved children’s book by Barry Brown & Jeff LaGreca. “An orphan with a wagon of misshapen pumpkins, stops to visit their sullen neighbors; a surly blacksmith, a disillusioned woodcarver, and an ill-tempered, yet grief-stricken tailor. They each loan the kid a discarded tool, an old saw, a broken spoon and a twisted hat pin, and with these, the child is able to create magical carvings that somehow transform even the most cracked and ruined of hearts.” Rate: $35 per show plus rehearsal stipend. Additional info: Casting singer-actors-movers aged 18+. Listed character genders indicate the gender that character identifies as, but are open to performers who identify differently or as non-binary, as long as they are comfortable performing as that stated gender. The first round of auditions will be by self-tape, followed by in-person appointments and in-person call backs. Non-union. Rehearsals, evenings in September.
