About the project: "The Producers" is a musical comedy about a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer, Max Bialystock, and his accountant, Leo Bloom, who scheme to produce a guaranteed flop so they can pocket the investors' money when it inevitably closes. However, the show becomes a surprise hit, throwing their plan into chaos. The musical is based on Mel Brooks's 1968 film and features a score and lyrics by Brooks, with a book co-written by Brooks and Thomas Meehan.
