(Female presenting, 20s-30s): Intelligent, determined, and emotionally grounded. Carla is driven to clear her mother’s name and uncover the truth about her past. Actor will also portray Carla’s late mother Caroline Crale (30s-40s) in flashback scenes. Passionate, fiery, and emotionally complex. Accused of poisoning her husband.
(male presenting): A thoughtful and analytical solicitor. He previously observed Caroline’s trial and now aids Carla in her investigation.
(male presenting): A charismatic and self-absorbed artist. His charm masks deep flaws. The murder victim who appears only in flashbacks.
(male presenting): Philip’s brother, gentle and a bit eccentric. A student of herbal poisons, which makes things…complicated.
(male presenting): A family friend and sportsman. Arrogant and confident, both younger and older versions should feel like the same man hardened by time.
(female presenting): A beautiful, ambitious young woman. She was Amyas’s muse and lover. Poised and confident, as well as calculating.
(female presenting): Caroline’s much younger half-sister. Spirited and sharp-witted, with a visible facial disfigurement from an accident.
(female presenting): Angela’s no-nonsense governess. Practical, restrained, and observant.
(male presenting) Carla’s selfish fiancee who adamantly objects to her pursuing her mother’s story.
