About the project: Synopsis: Disarming Charlie takes place in 1900 New Mexico territory. This is the story of a large family, the Westermans, that engage in a years-long battle with a large and lawless bunch. As the result of their eventual but successful eradication efforts, they are commissioned to bring law and order to a small but rapidly growing city. Once there, they face not only well armed and organized opponents, but internal struggles as well. Additional info: It’ll be SAG micro budget. Filming: mid to late September. The sides are attached. (Mid 70s). William is the patriarch of the Westerman family and has the final word on family matters. He seeks wisdom and strength in scripture and often finds it. However, he is also a realist and is prepared to protect his family by any means necessary.
Mid 50s. Williams eldest son, Wesley feels the pressure to maintain his number two position in the family. However, he has begun to drown his grievances and liquor, further complicating his position with the family.
Mid 50s. William’s second oldest son & has always felt lost inside of the family & over compensates by frequently losing his temper. He is always the first to engage physically with an opponent, whether it is a threatening outsider or a family member. One year younger than Wesley, Wayne feels a strong sibling rivalry with Wesley & the pair uses each other’s weaknesses to undermine the other’s position in the family. Their conflict is having a negative effect on their relationships in the family.
Wade is, by far, the largest of the Westerman Brothers. As a result, he is the de facto enforcer of Williams family policies. He rarely gives his opinion and is rarely asked for it and he will carry out any instructions given by William without a second thought.
Mid 20s. Charlie is a young cowboy that has been with the Westerman family since his early teens. Wily and Wiry and possessing explosive energy, Charlie is absolutely dedicated to the family, however, he is also a ‘live wire’ and is prone to ignore family protocol.
