Casting Call for "Duality" Short Film

Chicago, IL, United States
ID: 290339Exp: 8/29/2025
Description:

Casting actors for "Duality" Short Film, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: Ellen, a brilliant but disillusioned science student, questions the ambiguity and metaphysical spirals in physics. Hoping to switch majors, she consults Nelle, a thoughtful history professor. Rather than offer a direct answer, Nelle gives Ellen a fragmented speech by Isabelle Stone (the first American woman to earn a PhD in Physics) and asks her to reconstruct it. When Ellen reads the reassembled speech, she finds it deeply cynical. But Nelle encourages her to read it backward (literally). This reversal unexpectedly reveals an optimistic message, sparking a profound conversation on truth, interpretation, and the role of the observer in shaping both science and history. About the project: Duality is a bold, narrative-driven short film exploring the cinematic and linguistic potential of phonetic reversal. Drawing visual inspiration from Coldplay’s The Scientist, the film expands the concept with a layered story about science, history, and perception.
