About the project: "Neighbourly Neighbors" is a short political satire set in a quiet suburban neighborhood. The story follows Blue State America, a disheveled, drunk man who stumbles to confess his love for Canada, his polite and reluctant neighbor. Claiming he’s leaving Red State America, his volatile and aggressive partner, Blue State, tries to convince Canada to take him in — but things quickly spiral out of control. The film is a character-driven, dialogue-heavy comedy with strong political undertones. It relies on sharp timing, cultural references, and satirical portrayals of North American dynamics. Rate: UBCP/ACTRA or Equivalent. This is a volunteer project. Producers will provide credits where necessary. The film will be submitted to festivals, competitions and broadcasters in Canada, like CBC. Food and transportation will be provided. Quebec is a symbolic personification of the province of Quebec. He is in a tense marriage with his wife, Canada. However, he has far greater disdain for his American neighbors on the other side of the street. He’s tough and isn’t afraid of a fight. He speaks in both French and English in a thick working-class Quebecois accent.
Red State America is the symbolic personification of red state America. She is a trashy, alcoholic, aggressive and angry woman in a toxic marriage with Blue State America. She holds radically right-wing views and has a penchant for violence. She is both incredibly ignorant and incredibly arrogant. She speaks in a thick Southern accent.
