"Akeelah and the Bee" Audition for the Theater

About the project: Based on the acclaimed film, this inspiring play follows 11-year-old Akeelah Anderson as she navigates personal trials and triumphs on her way to the National Spelling Bee. With heart, humor, and the power of language, Akeelah learns what it truly means to believe in herself and in her community. Rate: Paid. Additional info: ELIGIBILITY: performers must reside in Jefferson County, AL or a surrounding area to be considered. This is a local hire only production. SEEKING: a diverse, talented cast. Open to performers of all backgrounds. Age ranges are based on how characters should appear onstage. Some actors will play multiple roles. Non-union. Rehearsals begin: August 25, 2025.
