Set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and the counterculture movement of the late 1960s, HAIR follows a tribe of young people navigating identity, community, protest, and passion. Female Presenting. A passionate, politically active young woman and leader of the anti-war movement. Intelligent, idealistic, and strong-willed, yet tender and deeply caring. She’s part of the Tribe but often feels torn between her love for Berger and her dedication to changing the world. (Mezzo/Belter, range: G3-C5)

Male Presenting. Cool, confident, and charismatic, Hud is a proud Black man and a vital member of the Tribe. Witty and bold, he brings humor, swagger, and pointed social commentary to the group’s freewheeling vibe. Must command the stage with style and soul. (Baritone, range: A2-C4)

These comedic cameo roles are often played with broad, satirical humor to highlight the absurdity and rigidity of the older generation. Strong comedic timing, physical character work, and versatility are key. Vocal range: flexible; character singing.
