About the project: When Jasper takes psychedelics alone in his apartment, he’s quickly overwhelmed by fear and the sense that he might die. A Facetime call from his long-distance girlfriend, Violet, offers comfort but their conversation drifts into tension, miscommunication, and emotional distance. As the trip deepens, so does the truth of their strained relationship, until both are forced to confront what they’ve been avoiding. A surreal, intimate story about love, panic, and the quiet heartbreak of long distance relationship. Rate: Non-Union. Copy, Credit, Lunch. A sensitive, introspective student who recently left everything familiar behind. Jasper is lonely but determined juggling school, work, and a long-distance relationship that’s beginning to slip through his fingers. He hides his uncertainty behind absurd humor, sarcasm, and distraction. He loves Violet deeply, but he’s unsure if it’s the kind of love that lasts and that doubt haunts him. His life without her feels like the color violet: cold, surreal, and lonely.
Grounded, emotionally intuitive, and quietly passionate. Violet has carried the weight of long distance love for months giving patience, softness, and space. But she’s starting to break under the pressure. She needs her boyfriend to show up, not just say the right thing. Without Jasper, her world feels like the color jasper scorched red-orange, heated and overwhelming. Life becomes all pressure and no release, angry, intense, and on the verge of emotional burnout.
