About the project: A new adaptation of the classic lively German farce involving official skullduggery in a small Dutch village during a trial with great opportunities for high-spirited comedic business. The show is a period piece and will be performed with the comedic characterizations expected of a farce. There are powerful, funny monologues. Additional info: Sides will be provided. Bring resume and headshot if you have. Mandatory attendance is required for all performances and all rehearsals during week prior to opening. He village judge, a charlatan who brazens out his own lies and failures during an Official Inspection of his courtroom by the District Magistrate.
Adam's savvy courtroom clerk, who becomes increasingly suspicious that his master is hiding a secret relevant to the trial before him.
The District Magistrate, who is running late due to a road incident, leaving him with very little time to conduct his inspection. He is baffled as to how the judge runs his courtroom and takes testimony.

A caterwauling virago petitioning the Judge to redress property damages caused the night before and to punish the young man who she believes had sneaked into her daughter's room then. Martha needs plenty of energy and intensity.
Martha's daughter, in love with the young man falsely accused by her mother of sneaking into her daughter's room the night before and damaging Martha's property. Eve requires a range of emotions.
The nice young man who had hoped for a rendezvous with his sweetheart, Eve, the night before and who is morally indignant at being falsely accused.
Ruprecht's father, a simple farmer, utterly confused by the entire situation. (A comic reactor's part).
Veit's sister and the surprise witness for the petitioner, who is incapable of answering any question without going off on irrelevant tangents. She cannot provide a simple narrative of what she says she witnessed the night before.
Marguerite and Liza: Adam's two ditsy maid servants. They are constantly coming in and out of Adam's chambers and courtroom throughout the entire play.
