ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking speakers and creatives for upcoming Book Event. More details are below. Additional information: Are you a young person with a powerful story or creative voice? Have you overcome a difficult chapter in your life — and are now ready to inspire others? We’re inviting two passionate youth speakers from Durham Region (or nearby communities with easy access to Durham) to take the stage at a community book launch and healing-focused event for Healing Growing Hearts — a book centered on trauma recovery and youth empowerment. A young person with lived experience who would like to briefly share a personal story of overcoming life’s challenges — such as violence, addiction, disability, foster care, displacement, or personal trauma.
Poetry, Memoir, or Spoken Word. A young person with a creative voice who can share a short original piece that reflects on healing, resilience, identity, or growth. This could be a poem, short memoir, spoken word, or expressive piece — and we are open to creative formats!
