Behind his polished charm and handsome exterior lies a man with a dark, calculating heart. Jack is a master manipulator, capable of disarming smiles that thinly veil his cruelty. He thrives in the shadows of his own home, toying with his wife’s fragile mind while keeping his own sinister motives hidden. Every word he speaks is a threat laced with honey. He exudes a dangerous confidence. *This role requires comfort with light stage combat and a few staged kisses.
Bella is a woman teetering on the edge of despair, her once-bright spirit now dimmed by fear and doubt. Fragile yet resilient, she clings to reality, even as it slips through her fingers. Her husband’s gaslighting has her questioning her every thought, her every move. But beneath her shattered surface lies a core of strength—a spark of hope that refuses to be fully extinguished, much like the subtle pops of gold. *This role requires comfort with light stage combat and possibly a staged kiss.
Rough enters the scene like a storm—bold, brash, and full of life. He draws the eye wherever he goes with his infectious energy. But beneath his lively exterior is a man driven by a haunting obsession. He’s here to solve an old case that’s festered in his mind for years. Justice, for Rough, is not clean-cut; it’s messy and blurred by his own personal vendetta. Would he be willing to bend the rules, to manipulate the truth, even if it means deceiving a shattered woman to achieve his ends?
Must have motherly energy. Elizabeth, the housemaid, is a quiet, steady presence in the Manningham household, but there is a weight in her silence. She has seen far more than she lets on and knows the secrets that linger in the air like the dimming gaslights. A woman of few words, her loyalty is tested as the tension in the house builds. Beneath her dutiful exterior is a sharp awareness, making her more of an observer than an innocent bystander.
Nancy carries a sharp, confident demeanor, delighting in the attention she receives while navigating the treacherous waters of the Manningham household. While she plays a part in Bella's misery, her actions are fueled by her own naivety and the cunning manipulations of Jack. Caught in his deceitful web, she oscillates between being a perpetrator and a victim, reflecting the complexity of her circumstances. *This role requires comfort with a staged kiss.
