"Evil Dead" the Musical Needs Performers
Seeking actors for “Evil Dead" the musical. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the breakdown below. About the project: The classic cult films come to life on stage in one of the craziest, funniest and bloodiest theatrical experiences of all time! Five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods, and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It’s all up to Ash (a housewares employee, turned demon-killing hero), and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Blood flies. Limbs are dismembered. Demons tell bad jokes… and all to music. Additional info: Please prepare both: 16-32 bars of any song that showcases your range. 16-32 bars of a song in the style of Evil Dead: The Musical. Acapella auditions will not be considered. Your vocal audition may be recorded. Bring a mobile device that has a recording or link to your track for your audition piece. Please wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to move. Call backs by invitation will be held August 10th and 11th at 7 pm. Invitations will include a song selection to review and prepare. Video submissions due: August 3, 2025. Ash’s dorky sister who turns into a brash, foul-mouthed demon. Needs good comic timing and vocal control. Vocal range top: Ab5 Vocal range bottom: G3
Ash’s perfect girlfriend who loses her head (literally) by the end of the show. Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: G3
Ash’s crude best friend. He’s an a**hole, but the kind of a**hole you love. Vocal range top: Bb4 Vocal range bottom: C3
A brilliant archaeologist who tends to know it all and always feels what she is saying is more important than what everyone else is saying. She also plays Shelly, Scott’s girlfriend who is a Ditzy airheaded character. Vocal range top: C6 Vocal range bottom: Ab3
Just a plain guy who they meet in the woods. Vocal range top: B4 Vocal range bottom: G2
Annie’s boyfriend who can’t get a word in, also plays Moose. Vocal range top: G#4 Vocal range bottom: A2
This role is basically all of the small roles in the show: Knowby, Airport Announcer, the Severed Hand, Linda’s Headless Body, the Evil Force, etc. Note: This role is optional, and if the director desires, these small roles can be divided up amongst the other actors in the show.
Traditionally played by ED, JAKE and FAKE SHEMP, but anyone can play them.
The offstage voices who sing along to “Join Us.” Traditionally the full cast sings while simultaneously controlling the puppets that make up the moving contents of the cabin, so this can be expanded as desired.
There can be as many additional singers/dancers as desired.
The speaking parts of Man 1, Man 2, Man 3, Woman 1, Woman 2, and Possessed Woman can be given to anyone. There can also be as many additional customers as desired.
