"The Sound of Music" Musical Searching for Actors
Upcoming auditions for "The Sound of Music" show. Seeking actors. Please see the breakdown below. Rate: Unpaid. Additional info: Come prepared to sing the CHORUS of your favorite song that is no longer than 90 seconds (NOT from the show) and read a side. Callbacks will be held Saturday afternoon and Monday evening. Please note that a callback doesn't guarantee a casting. Please note: The age ranges listed are the characters’ ages, not necessarily the ages of the actors. Must be here for tech weeks, Jan 19th-30th. (Soloist, dancing). A postulant at Nonnberg Abbey – young, free spirited, warm, gentle and kind with much determination. (Practices 4-6 times per week).
(Soloist, some dance). A retired Austrian naval captain. Polished, yet very military in the way he runs his life to repress his sadness over the death of his wife; underneath, he is warm, understanding, and determined. (Practices 4-6 times per week).
(Soloist, some dance). Charming and vital; a man of sophistication who enjoys the good life; true and loyal friend to the von Trapp family. (Practices 2-4 times per week).
(Soloist, some dance). A baroness of taste and elegance, sophisticated, dignified and mature. (Practices 2-4 times per week).
(Soloist, wide vocal range, very strong actress). Motherly, understanding, strong and authoritative, but kind. (Practices 2-4 times per week).
(Soloist). Mistress of Novices, straight laced with a quick tongue, she is less tolerant than other nuns.
(Soloist). Mistress of Postulants, very kind, understanding and concerned.
(Soloist). Neither demanding nor critical, sticks with the rules.
(Soloist, dancing, 17). Suitor to Liesl, telegram delivery boy, later Nazi soldier. A very pleasant young man, somewhat aggressive, but in a gentle way. Must be willing to do an onstage kiss.
(Non-singing). The von Trapp butler, rather formal but not without spirit, he is very German. Non-singing featured role: practices 1-3 times per week.
(Non-singing). The housekeeper, very efficient, but grandmotherly. Non-singing featured role: practices 1-3 times per week.
(Non-singing). Stern and unsmiling, a typical Nazi official whose primary concern is to see that everyone toes the line. Non-singing featured role: practices 1-3 times per week.
(Soloist, dancing, 16). The oldest child, blossoming into a young lady with an interest in boys. She has a maternal edge to her and cares very deeply for her younger siblings. Must be willing to do an onstage kiss. Practice 4-6 times per week.
