Looking for talent for "Anastasia" musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: WHAT TO BRING: -A simple headshot (professional not required). -An acting resume highlighting your experience (if you have one). WHAT TO PREPARE: -4-minute Individual Audition including a monologue & a song selection from the show -Slate with your full name, age, and role(s) you’ll be performing. -Prepare approximately 1 minute of a monologue. -Prepare song selection from the show. An accompanist will be provided. PRODUCTION NOTES: Rehearsals begin in early August. A full schedule and production details will be provided at auditions. Fight sequence, interaction with weapons Anya is both the street-smart young woman who’s experienced the tribulations of the new Russia and the regal Grand Duchess Anastasia who grew up a princess and disappeared in fire.
Lead, male presenting, playing age 25-30 Range: A2-G4, Tenor/Baritone Dance: Some movement & partner dance Intimacy/Fight: Kiss on lips; Embraces. Fight sequences At the surface, Dmitry is one with the streets, willing and able to survive by the wit, charm, and nerve. At his core, he is a pure soul with a soft heart. Dmitry’s comedic timing and sardonic one-liners mask a lost boy with no roots and fear of no future.
Supporting Lead, male presenting, playing age 30s–50s (non-specific, relative to Dmitry and Lily casting) Range: A2-F4, Tenor/Baritone Dance: Significant, comic Intimacy/Fight: Embraces, hand/cheek touch & kisses Vlad is Dmitry’s partner in crime (literally) and surrogate father. Before the revolution he scammed his way through society pretending to be a count. Vlad is dramatic, crafty, and a big softie at heart.
Supporting Lead, male presenting, playing age 30s Range: A2-Gb4, Tenor/Baritone with strong upper register Dance: None Intimacy/Fight: Interaction with weapons A young official and true believer of the New Russia, his passionate nationalism and grasping to climb the ladder for country set him as the villain of Anastasia’s journey. He embodies the regime’s hand as a product of its nurture.
Supporting Lead, female presenting, playing age 35–55 Range: G3-B5, Jazz Mezzo-soprano with strong lower register Dance: Strong, comedic Intimacy/Fight: Embraces, hand/cheek touch & kisses Lily is the lady in waiting to the Dowager Empress and shown to be perhaps her only remaining friend. She has been by the Dowager’s side since before the revolution. Lily is clever and loyal to the Dowager. But when with the other exiles and elite of Paris, a light ball of energy in the jazz age.
Supporting, female presenting, playing age 70–80 Range: F3-Bb4, Alto with strong lower register Dance: None Anastasia’s grandmother, she lost everything and everyone (except Lily) on that night in 1917. She is icy, proud, and regal from a lifetime of ruling followed by a decade of intense grief. She is warm only to Anastasia, though also maternal to the rest of the family. She commands authority and attention the minute she enters a room. Strong presence is necessary.
