Singers Needed for "Man of La Mancha" Show
The company is holding auditions for "Man of La Mancha" Show and looking for performers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: Man of La Mancha is one of the world’s most popular musicals. Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ 17th-century masterwork Don Quixote and set during the Spanish Inquisition, the original 1965 production won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Miguel de Cervantes is in prison awaiting trial during the Spanish Inquisition. He and his fellow prisoners perform a play-within-a-play, telling the story of the elderly Alonso Quijano, who renames himself “Don Quixote” and goes on a quest to right all wrongs in the world. The rousing, Spanish-inflected score includes the classic numbers “The Impossible Dream,” “I, Don Quixote,” “Dulcinea,” “I Really Like Him” and “Little Bird.” **PLEASE NOTE: This musical deals with complicated themes including poverty, sexual assault, and mental health. While actors under 18 may audition for very select roles, permission from parents to participate is required given the sensitive subject matter. Additional info: Performances on October 10, 11, 17 and 18 at 7PM and Oct 12 and 19 at 2:30 PM. Rehearsals will begin approximately August 18th. Rehearsals have typically been held on Sunday (afternoon and evening), Monday (evening), Wednesday (evening) and Thursday (evening) of each week, but this is subject to change based on cast availability. Open auditions are being held virtually. Please record a video of approximately 16 - 32 bars from a musical and host online. Provide the link to the video below. Auditions will include learning/performing a short piece of music from the show and a cold reading and a short dance audition.
