About the project: SUMMARY - A seamless pairing of March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland, two acclaimed Off-Broadway musicals written nearly a decade apart, Falsettos is the tale of a neurotic New Yorker named Marvin, who leaves his wife Trina and young son Jason to live with his lover, Whizzer. In time, Trina marries his psychiatrist, Whizzer leaves him, and Marvin ends up alone. Two years later, Marvin and Whizzer reunite on the eve of Jason’s bar mitzvah, just as AIDS is beginning its insidious spread. With the help of their neighbors, Charlotte and Cordelia, Marvin and his entire family learn to grow up and face their future with love and dignity. Additional info: Preparation: Bring headshot and resume. Prepare 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song, in the style of the show. You may sing from the show. Please bring sheet music, an accompanist will be provided. If unable to attend in person, please send a video submission: see the attachment. Callbacks: Tuesday July 22nd 7:00-9:30PM. Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals will begin on or about July 30th and continue on a Monday-Thursday evening basis as called. Possibility of some Sunday morning/afternoon rehearsals. At the audition, you must list all conflicts between July 28th and September 14th. NO CONFLICTS ACCEPTED FOR TECH WEEK OR SHOWS. Performances: September 19th - October 5th. Marvin’s psychiatrist –who marries Trina and enters into the tumultuous world of her life with her son, her ex and her ex’s lover while struggling with his own feelings. Jewish. High baritone.
One of the ‘lesbians from next door’ – Charlotte is a dedicated doctor alarmed by the mysterious illness that is killing' her gay male patients. Tough, but extremely nurturing and very much in love with her partner, Cordelia. Alto/Mezzo.
The other ‘lesbian from next door’ – Cordelia is Dr. Charlotte’s partner – she runs her own kosher catering business, is very keen on making a nice home– but also wants to be useful and valued for her contribution to the world. High belt voice.
