"Spin: The Rumpelstiltskin" Musical Casting Performers

A strange-looking little man of indeterminate age, decently but oddly dressed. His clothes and demeanor indicate someone who has spent much of his life on the road. Though he first appears to be menacing, he has a sense of charm and warmth which belie his appearance. His speech and movement are somewhat off center as he often cackles, giggles and hops about.

The Miller’s daughter: A pretty sweet young girl, but with a bit more spunk than typical ingenues.

The king has a very poor kingdom and his appearance reflects this. He is wimpish, unsure of himself, wishing only to be left alone to pursue his useless but devoted hobby of constructing model castles out of saltine crackers. He eventually falls for and marries Jane. Slightly older than Jane.

Shirley and Adele: The king’s 2 sisters. They live to berate their brother, feeling cheated of their birthright as princesses. They are very similar in their ranting and raving with Shirley (the oldest) more dominate and Adele slightly daffier.

A local tradesman, he is Jane’s father. He is timid on the thin side or weak looking but wishes to just be one of the guys with the Tanner and Cobbler. Easily led and lured, he puts himself and Jane in jeopardy. Looking old enough to be Jane’s father.

The Tanner and Cobbler: Friends of the Miller, they are 2 loud, buffoonish tradesmen, each holding himself in very high esteem. They are large dominating men giving them the power to influence the weaker Miller. Contemporaries of The Miller.

The Jester: Once the king’s father’s jester, he is ancient and a has-been. His jokes are ancient but we never get to hear them anyway because of Shirley and Adele. He moves in super slow motion, is always confused, and often stares vacantly or is misdirected.
