Fatherhood The Movie
Fatherhood is a gritty, poetic coming-of-age drama that follows Deon “D-Boy” Richardson, a young father fresh out of prison, as he fights to rebuild his life, reconnect with his 3-year-old son, and break the cycles that raised him. Set in the working-class streets of Beloit, Wisconsin, the film explores manhood, co-parenting, and redemption through the lens of Black fatherhood. As D-Boy navigates the pressure of parole, the pull of the streets, and the trauma he’s still unpacking, he finds unlikely healing in a local Fatherhood program — and a second chance he never thought he’d earn. Raw, grounded, and soulfully Midwest, Fatherhood is about what happens when a man chooses to stay, even when he was never taught how.
