About the project: Showboat follows the lives of the performers, stagehands and dock workers on the Cotton Blossom, a Mississippi River show boat, over 40 years from 1887 to 1927 telling stories of showbusiness, prejudice and tragic but enduring love. The musical has contributed such classic songs as "Ol' Man River", "Make Believe", and "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man". This brand-new adaptation for a new generation is based on Edna Ferber's 1926 novel, and features the glorious music of Jerome Kern, lyrics and book by Oscar Hammerstein II, adapted by Peter J. Hill who has fashioned a new image of Showboat. Rate: No Pay Additional info: Auditioners are asked sing 16-32 bars of a song of the style that also that best shows off their voice and range.
