A 14th-generation New Yorker with roots in the Dutch Schuyler Family and the Folgers family, Chevy tries to distance himself from his pedigree and fights to prove that he can make it on his own as a great comedian, becoming the most recognizable face in the cast. At times petty and jealous, he constantly looks to further his career, even if he leaves chaos in his wake. He puts up an arrogant front to convince himself and others that he is legitimate.
Chicago-born, irreverent funny guy with strong Albanian roots and musical talent, John is loveable and fun-loving, but can just as easily make enemies, at times seeing things too black and white. John abides firmly by this motto "Live fast, diebyoung and leave a good-looking corpse," sometimes to his own detriment.
Laraine studied mime with Marcel Marceau and was a founding member of The Groundlings "Never a good improviser" but is most free when in character. Like Gilda, she fights to get her female comedy voice heard but struggles to get a foothold. She's the skinny spaced-out sex symbol of Saturday Night Live" probably due to an eating disorder and heroin addiction.
The first Black cast member hired on SNL, Garrett is an actor, writer, classically trained singer and comedian from New Orleans with some Broadway credits who is trying to get more credibility on the program than just as the token Black guy. Hestruggles to be accepted without expressing his disdain for the work culture.
Toronto-born writer and producer, Lorne has his sights on making television history by creating something that no one has ever seen before on T.V., which he does with associate Dick Ebersole. He skillfully manages to prevent the cast from fully mutinying in a clash of egos, while simultaneously keeping his vision afloat in uncharted waters. Lorne somehow maintains a calm demeanor during this most stressful time of his life.
A goody-two shoes Irish Catholic girl from Massachusetts, Jane is very much a "let's come in, let's know our lines, let's do it properly" kind of person. She is very sensible and very focused, making her Saturday Night Live's resident mother hen with a deadpan sense of humor, often playing the straight woman to more zany character actors. Not a fan of the show's drug culture, she has a knack for seeing the good in people, even bad seeds.
A Detroit Jew with a heart of gold. Gilda is quirky and hilarious and always wears her heart on her sleeve. Suffers from an eating disorder from a very young age, she is a spark plug improviser and memorable character actor. Everybody loves. One of her main objectives in life is to find a lasting romantic love.
Smart, funny and an expert on the occult, Danny is a Canadian-American stage, film and television actor, comedian, writer, producer and a musician. His nerdy demeanor hides his flirtatious proclivity. He is Saturday Night Live's backstage flirt and premiere character actor with roots in the Chicago improv scene.
Quirky and deadpan, Bill has to prove himself when joining the cast in the third season, both artistically and socially. He tends to avoid picking sides, but can be very blunt when he disagrees with something or someone. Often plays comic relief and he's got a thick skin, but will pretend an emotional outburst just for laughs.
