"The Wedding Singer" Musical in Need of Cast
Seeking actors for " The Wedding Singer" show. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the details below. About the project: Synopsis: The Wedding Singer is a big-hearted, high-energy musical based on the hit Adam Sandler movie—set in the most delightfully over-the-top decade: the 1980s. Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer—until his fiancée leaves him standing at the altar. Suddenly, love songs feel like lies, and Robbie’s career (and eyeliner) take a nosedive. Enter Julia, a kind-hearted waitress who’s engaged to the wrong guy—a sleazy Wall Street bro named Glen. As Robbie helps plan her wedding, sparks fly, and he starts to wonder if love deserves a second chance. With wild characters like the sassy Grandma Rosie, Robbie’s wannabe-rockstar best friend Sammy, and a Boy George impersonator named George, this show is packed with laughs, heart, and an ’80s-tastic score featuring songs like “It’s Your Wedding Day,” “Somebody Kill Me,” “Come Out of the Dumpster,” and “Grow Old With You.” It's like a rom-com mixtape with hair gel, synths, and shoulder pads—and we promise, you’ll leave humming. Additional info: You do NOT need to be a resident of Pequannock. Please prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show. All roles are open for audition. The director will be playing one of the roles, but all parts are open and will be cast based on auditions. Everyone is encouraged to audition for any role that interests them. Cast members will provide their own costumes. Rehearsals are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 6-9 pm. If you are interested, please apply.
10 roles
Tenor (B2-C5). A lovable goofball with a killer voice and a heart that's been stomped on. Robbie fronts a wedding band and is great at making other people’s dreams come true—until his own gets crushed. A tenor with emotional range and serious comedic timing. Think: Adam Sandler meets early-2000s pop-punk frontman energy.
Mezzo-Soprano (G3-F5). Sweet, grounded, and just a little unsure of what she really wants. She dreams of a big white wedding, but maybe not with the guy she’s about to marry. A charming ingénue with a modern edge. Strong belt and a heart that wins over the crowd.
Baritone (D3-B4). A sleazy, flashy Wall Street bro with a killer watch and a fragile ego. Glen’s got money and confidence but not much soul. He should be magnetic—but kind of makes your skin crawl. A fun villain with '80s swagger. Strong singer with a rock vibe.
Mezzo-Soprano (A3-E5). Julia’s cousin and best friend. She’s bold, brash, and a little wild—with a good heart under all that hairspray. A belty party girl who commands the stage and brings the house down. Must be able to sell a song and own the spotlight.
Tenor (C3-A4). The band’s wannabe ladies’ man and Robbie’s loyal (if occasionally clueless) best friend. He tries hard, dresses loud, and loves harder than he lets on. A comic role with a rock voice and solid rhythm. Bonus points for mullet commitment.
Tenor (C3-A4). The keyboardist and resident Boy George wannabe. Fabulous, flamboyant, and full of one-liners. George brings comic flair and unexpected heart to the band. Needs great comedic instincts and a confident falsetto.
Alto (C4-C5). Robbie’s no-nonsense grandma with unexpected spice. Rosie is wise, quirky, and totally unfiltered. A scene-stealing character role—great for a strong comedic actor who can sing and isn’t afraid to bust a move.
Alto (A3-D5). Robbie’s ex-fiancée, a rocker chick with a sharp tongue and tight pants. She dumps him hard—and then shows up like a tornado later. Big voice, big presence, and big hair. A brief but unforgettable role.
