ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ADMITTED. Seeking multiple energetic actors to play multiple comedic roles in interactive plays for children in Toronto and surrounding areas. More details are below. Rate: This is a paid, non-union position. Actors are paid per performance. For August festival performances in Barrie, actors receive complimentary accommodations, transportation to/from Barrie and $50 – $100 per performance (based on audience size; there are 9 shows). For school performances, actors receive $125 – $200 per show. Shows are 35 – 45 minutes plus a 10-20 minute Q+A with the audience. Additional information: Must have strong comedic sense, very high energy, ability to portray multiple zany characters, and comfort with wacky props and costumes. Also, MUST be comfortable improvising and interacting with children (ages 3 – 12). Experience working with or performing for children is strongly preferred. Please include any such experience on your resume. Other desirable qualifications include the following. These are not requirements but please indicate on your resume if they apply to you: Puppeteering Juggling Singing Ability to play an instrument Improv Ability to perform in French (with perfect native accent) Interest in workshopping new shows Required Availability for 2025: Rehearsal period in July in Toronto (dates and times TBD based on cast availability). – August 4-17 for tech rehearsal and daytime performances (9 shows) between 9AM and 2PM in Barrie, Ontario (accommodations and/or daily transport to/from Toronto will be provided at no cost). September onward: occasional daytime availability on weekdays for school shows in Toronto (up to 5-10 weekdays per month, to be scheduled based on cast and school availability) and additional rehearsal times for new show development. First-round auditions will be held on Zoom followed by in-person callbacks in Toronto. DEADLINE: Submissions received before Monday, July 7, 2025 are strongly preferred. Submissions received later may be reviewed as needed on a rolling basis.
