Singing Audition for "Hair" Play
Looking to cast male and female talent for the "Hair" musical show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The American tribal love rock musical HAIR celebrates the sixties counterculture in all its barefoot, long-haired, bell-bottomed, beaded and fringed glory. To an infectiously energetic rock beat, the show wows audiences with songs like “Aquarius,” “Good Morning, Starshine,” “Hair,” “I Got Life” and “Let The Sunshine In.” Exploring ideas of identity, community, global responsibility and peace, HAIR remains relevant as ever as it examines what it means to be a young person in a changing world. Additional info: * Please prepare 32 bars of a song that shows your vocal range and acting abilities. Selections should be about 45 seconds long, or roughly a verse and a chorus. * Sheet music must be provided in your key with selection indicated for accompanist. Due to the nature of this show, you must audition with the accompanist – pre-recorded tracks and acapella will not be accepted. MOVEMENT- There will be a required 32-count dance audition, please arrive dressed and ready for movement. Production Dates: Oct. 17 - Nov. 23 (no performances Oct. 31 - Nov. 2) PERFORMANCES held Fri. & Sat. at 8 p.m; Sun. at 2 p.m. with a special performance Thurs., Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. Rehearsal Dates: Rehearsals will begin August 4 and be held Mondays and Wednesdays 7-10 p.m. and Saturdays 12-4 p.m. If you are interested, please apply.

(Featured) Vocal Range: Mezzo Soprano/Alto (G3-C5) An NYU student and antiwar protestor, Sheila is hung up on Berger.
(Featured) Vocal Range: Tenor/High Baritone (D3-G4) An androgynous, gentle soul, Woof loves plants, his family and the audience. Woof is hung up on Mick Jagger.
(Featured) Vocal Range: Baritone (B2-F4) Hud is a militant African American member of the tribe who loves Dionne.
(Featured) Vocal Range: Alto (G3-F4) An idealistic, pregnant environmentalist and earth-mother, Jeannie is in love with Claude.
(Featured) Vocal Range: Mezzo Soprano/Soprano (F4-F5) Dionne is a vivacious, strong, free-thinking African American.
(Supporting) Vocal Range: Mezzo Soprano/Soprano (A3-C5) Crissy is sweet and innocent, and in love with motorcycle gang member Frank Mills (who never appears in the show). Crissy is the youngest member of the Tribe.
(Supporting) Vocal Range: Tenor (A2-B4) Margaret Mead is a Tribe member who at one point in the show, portrays a female tourist in drag.
(Ensemble) The tribe members play multiple characters in the show.
