Theater Casting Call for "Spider’s Web" Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking performers for "Spider’s Web" play. More details are below. About the play: Clarissa, the wife of a Foreign Office diplomat, is given to daydreaming. 'Supposing I were to come down one morning and find a dead body in the library, what should I do?’ she muses. Clarissa has her chance to find out when she discovers a body in the drawing-room of her house in Kent. Desperate to dispose of the body, Clarissa persuades her three house guests to become accessories and accomplices. The search begins for the murderer and the motive, while at the same time trying to persuade a police inspector that there has been no murder at all. Additional information: Location: Calgary. Pre-registration is required. Each audition session is 30 minutes, with 5 people able to register per session. Auditions consist of cold-reads from the script. Please, see the attachment. Female presenting character. There is a bit of mischief about her. She is the second wife of diplomat Henry Hailsham-Brown and stepmother to the teenage daughter.
Male presenting character. At least 10 years older than Clarissa. He finds Clarissa amusing, and is quite devoted to her. He's very much the politician. Very proper.
Male presenting character. He's more of an old curmudgeon. Much more officious than either Roland or Henry.
Male presenting character. Much closer to Clarissa in age than the other men. He's a bit of a rogue. He certainly considers himself a lady's man.
Female presenting character. The comic relief in the play. She's the gardener. She's loud and boorish or at least she pretends to be.
Male presenting character. Clarissa's guardian and one of Henry's best friends. He's charming and much less rigid than Henry.
Male presenting character. A seasoned detective, and well aware that the people he's dealing with know more than they are letting on.
Male presenting character. He's married to Henry's first wife. The kind of man women find alluring and men find obnoxious. All he really needs is the mustache to twirl.
Male presenting character. The butler, and with all Christie butlers he's probably hiding something.
Male presenting character. The Lord's associate.
