Strong singers/actors for the premiere of the new script and score of "Gabriel". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See more info below. About the project: GABRIEL is a soaring musical drama by Jerold Solomon, Foster Solomon and Ron Klipp, inspired by the life of Gabriel, an enslaved Richmond-area blacksmith born in 1776 who sought to win freedom for 300,000+ Black Americans in the wake of the American Revolution. GABRIEL the musical was originally developed and produced at Firehouse Theatre in Fall 2022. Rate: AEA Contract: Single Engagement Agreement (SEA). AEA Compensation: $732 per week plus pension and health as per the SEA. Only current AEA members in good standing are eligible for Equity contracts. Non-Union Compensation: Paid stipend of $3,360 for the run (avg. $74-$96 per performance depending on weekday student matinees and possible extension). Understudies/swings will be paid a learning fee of $500. Additional info: AEA & non union. This production features more than 20 songs and will require the ability to read music or follow musical notation. What to Prepare: - A 1-2 minute dramatic monologue - 32 bars of a song in a contemporary musical theatre or gospel style (bring sheet music in your key; an accompanist will be provided) - Headshot and resume, stapled together Please note: You may be asked to stay until the end of your scheduled audition hour to participate in a brief group movement session with the choreographer. Rehearsal dates: evenings/weekends beginning week of August 25, 2025 (specific dates and location TBD).
