About the project: Bonnie, an ambitious 18-year-old musician, is the driving force behind her pop-rock girl band, The Cherries. She's determined to land them a spot in a major showcase where record labels will be scouting. Balancing late-night rehearsals with her day job. Her uncle Hudson, a charming but controlling music producer, oversees their progress under the facade of mentorship. As Bonnie pushes the band toward success, Hudson’s hold on her tightens, manipulating her emotionally and sexually while isolating her under the pretense of helping her career. Despite growing discomfort and her friends’ concern, Bonnie remains silent, believing this is the price of her dream. After a night out meant to reclaim some freedom ends in a violent assault, Bonnie awakens bruised, haunted, and determined. Realizing she’s been groomed and exploited, she returns to Hudson’s office and kills him with her guitar, the same one that once symbolized her passion. In a final surreal sequence, Bonnie, bloodied and broken takes the stage, reclaiming her voice, her body, and her future with the shattered remnants of her past. Rate: Non-Union. She/Her. Must: Sing & Play Guitar. She is an ambitious young woman who center's her life around music. Bonnie’s overachieving attitude pushes her friends to their limits, more so herself. Only when Bonnie takes it one step too far does she realize that no one can coerce her into silence.
He/Him. His charisma masks control as care, exploiting trust under the guise of helping other women succeed. For him, power is ownership. Becoming manager has been the single checkmate to begin his abuse on Bonnie.
She/Her. She is perceptive of others and well-regulated, with dreams of becoming a serious musician. June maintains the structure of the band, passive to being overworked.
She/Her. Energetic with an attitude, Anna wants to keep the band light-hearted. She confronts Bonnie regularly for taking them too seriously, yet never getting rid of her soft spot for the girls.
