About the play: A lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black, engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. Additional information: 9 Shows. Evenings October 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18. Matinees October 5, 12, 19. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. A retired lawyer, very close to an emotional and nervous collapse. Quiet, self-effacing, well-educated with very little in the way of self-confidence. In the play, we are to learn what it is in his personal history that has reduced him to this state. This performer must be a versatile character actor able to portray very distinctly different people with a minimum of props and differing accents/dialects. Apparent age 45-65.
An actor who is hired by Mr. Kipps to help him tell his story in a way that is engaging, the Actor takes on the project with enthusiasm and a love of theatre and drama. They are well-trained and with youthful energy. Apparent age 25-40.
