"DEATH OF A SALESMAN" Humor often covers his disappointment, but the frustrations in his life have accumulated now to a point where he feels he is breaking. Memories are flooding him, and his sense of reality is slipping – as much as he tries to cover, he feels a frailty in himself he didn’t before. Smart. Never at home anywhere.
"DEATH OF A SALESMAN" Willy Loman's wife. She is Willy's champion and takes it upon herself to reconcile her family. Intensely empathetic and wise. Loves her boys, has been idolized by both to a degree she doesn’t realize. Very human, great sense of humor and presence.
"DEATH OF A SALESMAN" The Lomans' older son. Struggling with his relationship with his father. Strong, handsome, athletic, he’s still not quite grown up – is 35 but feels a decade younger. Charismatic and with a good sense of humor, he is still very attached to his mother, struggles to make peace with his upbringing and how to move forward.
"DEATH OF A SALESMAN" The Lomans' younger son. Handsome, charming, kid-like in his pursuits, an avid and competitive womanizer – uses his victories with women to feel more of a success, as he is privately feeling quite the failure. Prone to exaggerating his position, his money, his everything, covering up his deep insecurities.
"DEATH OF A SALESMAN" Willy's older brother, in Willy’s memory around 40. Positive, deeply American in the Go-Getter, Optimist vein. Big voice, charisma, Mr. Personality. Could have written a book titled How I Made my Fortune: A Self Help Guide.
"DEATH OF A SALESMAN" A long-time acquaintance of the Lomans’. Kind, gentle. Willy’s age. Content with his life, proud of his son and deeply at home in the world. Patient, good sense of humor.
"DEATH OF A SALESMAN" Charley's son. Same age as Biff, 35. When we meet him as a teenager, he is borderline nerdy, easy to make fun of due to his earnestness. Hard working, straightforward, good heart. As an adult he is successful, busy, competent, on top of things but not arrogant.
"DEATH OF A SALESMAN" Hard working secretary. Has a great laugh and enjoys Willy’s company, as well as the company of other salesmen who come through. Attractive, but works at it – her sense of humor keeps her aloft despite her loneliness. Knows exactly what is up with each person she interacts with – is under no illusions with Willy, but does enjoy his company and his gifts.
"DEATH OF A SALESMAN" Willy's current boss. Very pleased with himself. Feels he’s “earned” everything (even though he actually inherited the business from his father). Little empathy for others, a good Capitalist who puts himself and his family first. Very self-involved.

He returns as a murderous barber seeking revenge and reconciliation with his family, which ultimately turns to dark obsession. He finds vengeance in his razors by systematically slitting the throats of all his enemies. He becomes consumed by his thirst for blood. Strong baritone/bass who can whistle. Vocal range top: Gb4. "SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET" Hardy and entrepreneurial owner of a pie shop on Fleet Street. Hard-edged but with a savvy sense of humor. She is in love with Todd and hopes that he’ll forget the past and build a new life with her. Lovett aids Sweeney in his massacre by making meat pies out of his victims. "SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET" Anthony is the idealistic handsome young sailor, befriended by Todd whom he rescued during the voyage home. He is idealistic, romantic and a little reckless. His passions sometimes get the better of his reason and his enthusiasm sometimes makes him unintentionally comedic. Over the course of the show he awakens to the horrors around him and becomes disillusioned with London. Vocal range top: F4. Vocal range bottom: Bb2.
"SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET" Johanna is Sweeney Todd's daughter, stolen from the barber many years ago by Judge Turpin who has taken her in as his ward. Locked up in her room, Johanna dreams of freedom outside. She is rebellious, subversive and has a romantic streak longing to escape her confinement. Johanna is aware that Judge Turpin isn’t her real father and suspects that he might be a predator. Vocal range top: A5. Vocal range bottom: Bb3.
"SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET" Young, waifish and vulnerable. A bit of an urchin with a good heart. Apprenticed first to Pirelli and then to Mrs. Lovett. He is industrious and eager to please, with a good sense of humor. Uneducated, but innately clever and observant, Tobias responds quickly to the kindness of Lovett but grows increasingly suspicious of Sweeney. Vocal range top: Ab4. Vocal range bottom: Bb2.
"SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET" Pompous, self-centered, and powerful. A lecherous public official who portrays himself as a sanctimonious authoritarian. He takes advantage of his position to imprison Todd, assault Lucy, and take Johanna in as his ward. Embodies Puritanical hypocrisy. He lusts after Johanna, even as he professes to keep her innocent, and plans to marry her. Powerful, unforgiving, rich, and egocentric. Vocal range top: Gb4. Vocal range bottom: E2.
"SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET" Sleazy, pompous, menacing henchman of the Judge. He possesses a dry, deadpan sense of humor and enjoys wielding his power. He is not a sniveling civil servant. He is deeply loyal to Turpin, though in his heart of hearts he believes he’s better than the judge. He can be subtly terrifying or outright threatening yet, equally fastidious, and fussy. Speaks with a British accent. Vocal range top: D5. Vocal range bottom: D3.
"SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET" An eerie, poor soul living on the streets of London. Once “Lucy,” she’s a mentally unstable unhoused woman and prostitute. Seemingly helpless and naïve until she lifts up her skirts and propositions any man who walks by. Emotionally damaged and out of touch by the hard life she has lived. It turns out that she is the wife of Sweeney, the man she loved deeply many years ago. Vocal range top: F5. Vocal range bottom: Ab3.
"SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET" ALFREDO PIRELLI: A flamboyant Italian rival barber; a charlatan with a secret past. An “Italian” not traveling salesman/scam artist who invents a hair tonic and sells it to the inhabitants of Fleet Street. Long-winded, self-absorbed, and brazen, he challenges Sweeney to a shaving match – and loses. Has a high operatic tenor voice. JONAS FOGG: The owner of Fogg's Asylum. He sells the hair of madmen to wigmakers.
