"Treasure Island" Audition for the Theater
Actors needed for production of "Treasure Island". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See more info below. Additional info: TREASURE ISLAND will be a three-part audition that will include singing, dancing/fight choreography, and acting. Non-singers welcome, and even if you don't consider yourself a dancer, directors highly encourage you to come out and audition. Callbacks will be held July 19th, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. The quirky, fun-loving cook on the Hispaniola who has a dastardly dark side. A complex and captivating character who is considered an anti-hero. Must be willing to sing solo and/or ensemble.
The new visitor at the Benbow Inn. He is characterized by his heavy drinking, fear of other pirates, and his eccentric behavior, often seen in his boisterous singing and shouting. He is also known for his paranoid tendencies and his superstitious belief in the Black Spot, a pirate warning of death. Must be willing to sing solo and/or ensemble.
Calm, practical, and morally upright character, embodying the virtues of reason and compassion. He is a doctor and magistrate, representing the steadier aspects of society contrasted with the adventurous nature of the treasure hunt. Ensemble singing.
A ruthless and violent pirate, primarily known for his physical intimidation and direct confrontation. Ensemble singing.
Stern, disciplined, and suspicious character, initially wary of his crew and their potential for mutiny. He is also portrayed as brave, loyal, and ultimately reliable. He contrasts sharply with the pirates, embodying authority and order on the ship. Ensemble singing.
The narrator of the story; a man who has been driven to madness by his prolonged isolation on the island. He displays a wild appearance, a disjointed way of speaking, and a general lack of conformity to social norms. Despite his initial madness, he also shows kindness and willingness to help when given a chance to return to civilization. Should be willing to sing solo.
An evil and sinister pirate who was blinded in a pirate attack. He is cruel, scary and determined to get the map. He gives Billy Bones the Black Spot. A representation of death. Ensemble singing.
A hardened, amoral, and ruthless pirate. A skilled and dangerous fighter, known for his unorthodox style, and he represents the reckless and uncivilized nature of pirates. Ensemble singing.
One of Jim’s companions. Tom is killed by gunfire on the Hispaniola and is buried ashore. Ensemble singing.
Jim’s mother; lively, somewhat flirtatious, and not afraid to get her hands dirty in order to save her pub. She's often portrayed as a strong and resourceful woman. Ensemble singing.
Jim’s sickly father, a man easily frightened by pirates, and his death soon after the arrival of Billy Bones is attributed, in part, to the stress and fear of living with the pirate. He is described as a kind, but also easily intimidated, man. Ensemble singing.
