7 roles

Oscar HubbardBoth genders35-54 y.o.All ethnicities

Middle child. Never fit in, especially in society. Resents anyone popular. Feels himself the victim even as he keeps moving up in the world. A short fuse. Keeps waiting to be happy. Not as smart as the others, but not as dumb as he looks. Looks cheap in expensive suits.

Alexandra HubbardBoth genders18-22 y.o.All ethnicities

A girl who has been well trained. She has a soft heart and often a soft presence. It turns out there’s a strong will underneath it, but you wouldn’t guess it. Experience with piano playing a plus.

Leo HubbardBoth genders20-29 y.o.All ethnicities

An entitled rich kid. He’s trying hard to be like his uncle Ben, but his natural inclination is so far from it. An unintentional clown. Exactly as dumb as he looks. A terrible lover, but he thinks he’s great at it. A terrible businessman, but he thinks he’s great at it.

Horace Giddens/Mr. MarshallBoth genders40-59 y.o.All ethnicities

Mr. Marshall: Would describe himself as “socially liberal but fiscally conservative.” Very wealthy. Very smart. Could be ruthless but doesn’t need to be. He’s achieved everything he ever set out to do and is extraordinarily lonely.

Horace GiddensMale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

A “nice guy”. Sometimes a genuinely nice guy, and sometimes a self-assured accessory to the world’s crimes who sees himself as the hero. He wants to love Regina but never sees her clearly. He is dying and knows it but still can’t give away power. Has always wanted to put Regina in her place but doesn’t know it. Big plus if he’s a piano player.

AddieBoth genders40-59 y.o.African-American

A maid/governess who has been with the family since at least Zan’s birth. She is devoted to Zan, but who knows how she feels about anybody else in the family. She knows her favor within the family depends on them believing she likes them. Sometimes genuine, often guarded.

CalBoth genders20-59 y.o.African-American

Cal is a middle-aged house servant who works for the Hubbard family. He's described as generally cheerful and obedient, even if he doesn't fully understand what he's doing. Cal is not a liar, but he will lie if pressured by the Hubbards.
