About the project: Based on Giacomo Puccini’s La Boheme, Rent is a rock opera that tells the story of 8 friends’ need for connection in a world that has thrown them away. Set in the East Village of NYC at the height of the AIDS Epidemic, this group of artists and musicians experience desperation, loneliness, loss, lust, and love all while coping with survival. Together they discover how to fight for liberation when a win doesn’t seem possible. Additional info: REHEARSALS BEGIN: July 8, 2025 PERFORMANCES: October 3-12, 2025

A struggling musician and former drug addict. He is reminiscent of Kurt Cobain. Roommates with Mark in the loft and battles with being HIV-positive. Vocal Range: Rock Tenor (B2-A4)
Filmmaker and video artist. Knee deep in his own soul-searching, Mark is the typical young artist. He and Roger are roommates in the loft. A bit of a nerd. Vocal Range: Tenor (C#3-G4)
A computer genius and liberal professor. He is a nurturer with a smooth and relaxed disposition. Used to be a roommate in the loft and is HIV-positive. Vocal Range: Baritone/Tenor (F#2 – A4) One A4 for a short duration
Benjamin Coffin III - The landlord of Mark and Roger's apartment building. A former roommate in the loft, Benny traded in his personal morals for power and wealth. Vocal Range: Tenor (Eb3-F4)
A public interest lawyer and headstrong lesbian. She is smart and purposeful in all her decisions. Carries on a tumultuous relationship with Maureen. Vocal Range: Soprano Belt (C4-F5)
The eccentric HIV-positive street drummer. A drag queen with an incredible gift of dance and a magnetic personality. He becomes Tom's lover. Vocal Range: Tenor with Falsetto (C3-A4)
-A young, exotic dancer who is HIV-positive. She struggles with a heroin addiction. She lives in the same building as the loft and becomes Roger’s love interest. Vocal Range: Alto (F#3-E5)
An unpredictably zany performance artist. Maureen oozes sexuality and used to live in the loft. She has recently dumped Mark for Joanne. Vocal Range: Soprano Belt (C4-F5)
