Oberon is the King of the Fairies and is married to Titania. He is initially at odds with his wife because she refuses to relinquish control of a young Indian prince whom he wants for a knight. He casts a spell on her, and several others, to make love “right” as he sees it.

"A ROCKIN’ MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM" Vocal Range: Sop/Belt G3-E3 The daughter of Egeus and in love with Lysander. The best friend of Helena... at least at the beginning! Self-conscious about her short stature, Hermia suspects that Helena has wooed the men with her height. She is scrappy, just coming into her own maturity, and delightfully feisty.
"A ROCKIN’ MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM" Vocal Range: Alto, B3-D5 (optionally G#3-C5) Hermia’s best friend. She is in love with Demetrius but he does not love her back anymore. Lacking confidence in her looks, Helena thinks that Demetrius and Lysander are mocking her when the fairies’ mischief causes both men to fall in love with her. He is in love with Hermia and becomes the victim of misapplied magic and wakes up in love with Helena. He is eager, fully dedicated to whomever he is in love with at the given time, and fancies himself a bit of a hero.
"A ROCKIN’ MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM" Vocal Range: Baritenor, D3-A4 A gentleman of the court of Athens. He is at first in love with Helena, then in love with Hermia, and ultimately in love with Helena again. His obstinate pursuit of Hermia throws love out of balance among the quartet of Athenian youths and precludes a symmetrical two-couple arrangement. Impetuous, passionate, all the things he thinks a young man should be.
"A ROCKIN’ MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM" (PYRAMUS) Vocal Range: Strong rock tenor, G2-D5 An overconfident weaver in Athens. He is rehearsing to be in a play for the Duke’s wedding celebration. Forced to play a young girl in love, the barely-bearded craftsman determines to speak his lines in a high, squeaky voice. In the actual performance, he arrives at being very skilled, impressive actor and delivers a surprisingly moving Thisbe.
"A ROCKIN’ MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM" Starveling is the tailor chosen to play Thisbe’s mother in the craftsmen’s play for Theseus’s marriage celebration. He ends up playing the part of Moonshine. Egeus is the father of Hermia and a gentleman in the court of Athens. His severe insistence that Hermia either respect his wishes or be held accountable to Athenian law places him squarely outside the whimsical dream realm of the forest and a world where love rules the day.
