About the project: Kalyan and his 8 months pregnant wife Renuka migrate to Canada from a small town in India in search of a better life, but what makes them quit half way and go back to their country even when people around them are flourishing. Is it the system that is broken or there’s a dent in the mindset itself? Rate: Non union. Volunteer. Possible honorarium if funding gets approved. Additional information: Audition Location online zoom. Shoot/Performance Date(s) June 2025-July 2026. Shoot/Performance Location(s) Vancouver and Lower Mainland. This is a multilingual film and the protagonists Kalyan and Renuka are from North India so we are looking for actors for this role who can fluently speak Hindi and English(with an accent). Reading and writing Hindi and English is an asset. Submission Deadline June 10, 2025. Please, see the attachment. Hindi speaking. He is a Botany professor, socially awkward. Even though he is educated, he still has an orthodox mindset and strongly believes in male patriarchy. He is a loving husband and a caring father but also a very dominating husband at the same time. He thinks that it's his responsibility to be the breadwinner and doesn't treat his wife as an equal.
