About the project: The delectable sci-fi horror musical with an electrifying 1960s pop/rock score by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Seymour Krelborn is a meek and dejected assistant at a floral shop who happens upon a strange plant, which he affectionately names “Audrey II” after the coworker he secretly loves. Little does he know that this strange and unusual plant will develop a soulful R&B voice, a potty mouth, and an unquenchable thirst for human blood. As Audrey II grows bigger and meaner, the carnivorous plant promises limitless fame and fortune to Seymour, as long as he continues providing a fresh supply of blood. Just when it’s too late, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s extra-terrestrial origins and his true drive for world domination. Additional info: Callbacks NOT EVERYONE CONSIDERED WILL REQUIRE A CALLBACK SATURDAY, JUNE 28, 2025 Performance Dates NOVEMBER 7-9, 14-16, 21-23, 2025 Please prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of the show. Accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music. Also please prepare a short 1 minute comic monologue that showcases your style and a strong character. Some may be asked to stay to learn a short movement combination. You are encouraged to bring your theatrical resume, but not required. A photo and/or video may be taken at auditions. An insecure, put-upon florist's clerk and eventual hero. He is a genuine, well-meaning man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills. Vocal range: G4-A2, Tenor
Secret love of Seymour's life. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor. Gender: Female presenting Vocal range: D5-G#3, Mezzo Soprano
The seasoned owner of the failing East Side flower shop and Seymour's nosy boss. He is profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative. Gender: Male presenting Vocal range: F4-G2, Baritone
An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend. Gender: Male presenting Vocal range: G4-G2, Baritone
An actor/vocalist located offstage. The plant has an appetite for human flesh that is appeased by Seymour. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best. The original script describes as a mix of “Otis Redding, Barry White, and Wolfman Jack”. Performer may also double on stage as a narrator and/or street bum in other scenes. Vocal range: G4-G2, Baritone
3 street urchins, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus. Young, hip, and smart, these girls are the only ones who have a grip on reality.
