About the project: SHORT FILM-Upon attending a religious fundraiser imbued with intolerance, a Peruvian woman endures discrimination that challenges her resolve—until she rediscovers the transcendent strength of her own spirituality. Based on a true story. Rate: Non-Union. All actors will be paid with honorariums of varying amounts, depending on the role. Credit provided, as well as food provided on set. Additional information: Audition Location Self tape. Shoot/Performance Date(s) June 12th, 2025- 4 hr day. Shoot/Performance Location(s) Vancouver BC. Submission Deadline June 6, 2025. Peruvian/Canadian. A kind and generous woman with a strong moral compass. Is shocked and humiliated when treated with disrespect by the other attendees at the fundraiser. Heart of the story. Hoping to cast Peruvian/Canadian talent - but directors are also open to all Latinx submissions- please specify in your submission.
Catholic volunteer at the fundraiser event. While kindly in the beginning of the film and sympathetic to the mistreatment of Maria, she remains complacent and doesn’t do anything about it in the end.
Catholic priest sitting at Maria’s table. Makes a distasteful joke about parishioner Jen while at the table, barely acknowledging Maria’s presence.
FEATURED, NON-SPEAKING. Asian background. Quiet parishioner sitting at Maria’s table. Gets very embarrassed and shocked when made to be the butt of the joke by Father Thomas.
FEATURED. MC of fundraising event. Begins to address the attendees towards the end of the film right before Maria abruptly leaves. Confident speaker and blissfully unaware of how Maria has been treated.
