Pavel has grown into a passive figure shaped by years of fear and silence. He moves through the house carefully, trying not to be noticed, molding himself into the role of the “appropriate” son. Emotionally frozen, distant from his own needs and quietly suffocated by the life around him. RUSSIAN-SPEAKING PERFORMERS ENCOURAGED, BUT NOT REQUIRED.
Lev is Pavel’s older brother, four years his senior, and his opposite in nearly every way. Where Pavel is quiet and cautious, Lev is fiery and outspoken. He refuses to submit to their mother’s manipulation, often meeting her control with open defiance, even when it leads to harsher emotional or physical punishment.
She is controlling, emotionally manipulative, and distant. Though never see her face, her presence dominates the house. She appears only in fragments—most often through her hands, a dark silhouette that lingers at the edges of the frame. PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE IS MOSTLY OFF-SCREEN. PERFORMER MUST SPEAK FLUENT RUSSIAN.
