About the project: Fourteen-year-old Maria has never truly known her father—Roberto Bustamante, a once-legendary singer who vanished from her life when she was just a child. All she has left are her mother’s dreamy stories, faded photographs, and a dusty marionette that bears his likeness. But at night, when the house falls silent, Maria swears she can feel his presence—the creak of a rocking chair, the distant strum of a guitar, even the lingering scent of cigarettes and liquor in the air.
