About the project: Genre: Psychological Thriller, Drama Synopsis: Roominating explores the grieving process of Blake, a young woman who is exceedingly sentimental about her late mother’s belongings. Her connection to these physical objects results in an evening of distress when she is forced to take care of the remaining items in her storage unit. She quickly becomes disoriented by the seemingly endless halls full of uniform units. Inspired by Charlie Kaufman’s surreal storytelling, Blake is thrust into different units that transport her to a distorted memory of her last birthday with her mother. Along this dreamlike journey, she is forced to confront her fear of letting go. Rate: Meals and footage for reel. Blake’s sentimental nature is amplified by her mother’s passing. She does whatever she can to avoid confronting her reality and dealing with her overwhelming emotions.
Mid 20’s. Chris is Blake’s older brother. He resists his paternal instincts to take care of his sister because he knows she will be better in the long run doing things for herself. Chris is much more laid back compared to his sister.
Aunt Carol has always been close to Blake and is a bubbly, bright maternal figure. Carol is fairly modest and would never be the type to needlessly swear, but she will do karaoke like no one is watching.
Uncle Ron is your typical American husband who is loving and cares, but rarely knows the right thing to say.
Ellen is Blake's late mother. She is presented in the light that Blake wants to remember her in. The aspects of her personality that transcend through Blake's eyes show her as a warm, but reasonable woman who always knows what to say.
